I grew up on a cattle ranch where I owned and cared for many animals. As a child into my teens I was involved in the 4H program for 9 years raising and showing horses, baby beef, chickens, sheep and dogs. I received many purple ribbons at state fairs and competed in rodeos in the women's category as a young woman. I started nursing in 1978 and have worked in the care taking field ever since.
