Experience: 10 yrs
I've been a caregiver over 15 years. I've worked very close with hospice for cancer patients and Alzheimer patients. My duties included, companionship, light housekeeping medication reminders driving patients to appointment meal preparation and charting down patients blood pressure, medication, daily food intake and patients oxygen levels. Physical therapy exercises and daily walks bathing patients and changing briefs. I really enjoy working with seniors. On my down time I enjoy exercise and walks I also just finished a phlebotomy course. I really enjoy learning.
An Exceptional Caregiver!!!! It is difficult to put into words how much Lori meant to our family during the five years she cared for my grandmother. She is so much more than a caregiver. She became a very special and close friend to our family. When Lori began caring for my grandmother, she was already in her nineties. My grandmother eventually passed away at the remarkable age of 95. Caring for someone at that stage of life requires patience, experience, and genuine compassion. As my grandmother became more fragile and her needs increased, Lori handled every situation with confidence and kindness. She never made my grandmother feel like a burden. One of the things that stood out most was the relationship they built together. My grandmother was an extremely conservative and private woman. As she lost the ability to care for herself, she became very self conscious about needing help with personal hygiene and bathroom care. Lori had an incredible way of making those difficult moments feel normal. She protected my grandmother's dignity, respected her privacy, and made her feel comfortable. Before long, my grandmother often asked for Lori instead of one of us because she trusted her completely. She knew Lori truly cared about her as a person, not simply as someone she was caring for. Lori's knowledge matched her compassion. She helped guide our family through every stage of my grandmother's declining health. She explained what changes to expect, what warning signs to watch for, and when it was time to involve hospice or seek additional medical attention. Her experience gave us confidence during a time when we often felt overwhelmed. During my grandmother's final weeks, while she was on hospice and surrounded by medical equipment, Lori encouraged us to reach out whenever we had concerns. She kept her phone on throughout the night and always answered our text messages with thoughtful, knowledgeable guidance. Just knowing she was there brought our family tremendous peace of mind. If she felt she needed to see my grandmother herself, she would come by first thing the following morning. There is one conversation with Lori that I will never forget. I once asked her why she chose this kind of work. Her answer was beautiful. She told me that being there for someone during the final stage of their life is something she considers very special. She said she finds joy in comforting elderly people when they need someone the most and in building genuine relationships with them during that season of life. That conversation helped me understand that this is much more than a job for Lori. Caring for people is simply part of who she is. Lori's kindness extended beyond caring for my grandmother. When she first started, my mother made it clear that she was not expected to help with household chores. But whenever my grandmother was resting and there was nothing that required her immediate attention, Lori naturally looked for ways to help. She was always willing to help in any way she could. Whether it was folding laundry, tidying up, washing dishes, or taking care of other small tasks around the house, she simply noticed what needed to be done and did it without being asked. Over time, that became part of her routine whenever she was in our home. My mother eventually came to rely on that extra help because it allowed her to stay focused on her work while working from home, knowing Lori had everything else under control. It was never something we expected, but it perfectly reflected the kind of person Lori is. What touched us most was that Lori's care was never just a job. She genuinely cared for my grandmother. During her final days, Lori was respectful of my grandmother's religious beliefs and supported the religious beliefs and practices that were important to her with the same compassion and dignity she showed throughout her care. It was clear that Lori truly cared. I cannot recommend Lori highly enough. She combines experience, sound judgment, compassion, and a calm presence that brought comfort not only to my grandmother but to our entire family. Anyone fortunate enough to have Lori care for their loved one will quickly understand what made her so special to ours. Lori, thank you for everything you did for our grandmother and for our family. You brought comfort into our home during one of the most difficult times of our lives. You treated our grandmother with love, dignity, and respect until her final day, and you gave our family peace of mind every step of the way. Over those five years, you became a very special and close friend to our family. We miss seeing you, and our home has never quite felt the same without you. We will always be grateful for your kindness and for the love you showed our grandmother. Thank you for being exactly who you are. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
