About Lorena

My name is Lorena. I am a native Spanish speaker from Barranquilla, Colombia, with over 11 years of experience teaching in both Spanish and English. I currently work as a Special Education Assistant in Newton. Before coming to the United States I taught English across multiple private schools in Colombia from elementary through high school, delivering not just English as a subject but math, science, and social studies through English as well. In North Carolina I taught all core subjects to second graders in both Spanish and English within a dual language program. I teach Spanish to all levels, children and adults. Every student comes with a different relationship to language and I work from there, whether that means building structure first or jumping straight into conversation.
