I'm passionate about what I do because I have an emotional connection of having a daughter with special needs. My daughter has recently transitioned into community college. She grew up with delayed speech and language after suffering from chronic middle ear infections. While in the first grade she was diagnosed with delayed auditory processing. She always struggled in school. At the age of 40 I decided to go back to school to become a SLPA-Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant. I interned at St. Jude Centers for Rehabilitation and Wellness where I worked with adult outpatient clients with Aphasia. I provided direct services to stroke and brain-injury survivors with Aphasia enhancing their communication skills and facilitated their engagement in life activities. I also interned at an elementary school working with 1st-3rd graders with Autism, as well as, the general ed. students pre-k-6th grade. I provided direct speech and language services to the students.
