About Lois

At Indiana University I studied and graduated with an Applied Mathematics degree, with a minor in economics. Throughout my undergraduate studies I worked as a tutor for the Academic Center of Excellence teaching anything from College Algebra up to Calculus 3. Throughout high school I works as an aid in a 5th grade high ability math class as well as a low ability reading class. My personal teaching philosophy does not agree with grouping students based on their academic performance, but rather mix students with varying abilities. This allows them to help one another excel by teaching and learning from peers. I believe students learn best in a calm environment where they feel comfortable and confident in asking questions and communicating their knowledge back to others to display understanding.
