I'm mom of a 15-year-old autistic son. He was severely developmentally delayed but has come a long way and is doing great! He is now high-functioning and doing General Ed schoolwork. I believe he will make a full recovery and become an independent adult. While I don't have any formal education in autism disorders, living with my son and helping him has enabled me to become VERY familiar with it. I also attend autism education conferences, belong to the Autism Society and research the latest treatments. I have a soft spot for special needs kids and their parents. I have patience, kindness and compassion for them. My career has been in Marketing but I recently got my real estate license (which included a criminal background check). I want to be available for real estate a good bit during business hours so would be available as a caregiver early mornings, evenings, weekends or limited times during business hours.
