About Lily

Lily was a caregiver for my mom for nearly two years. She had cared for people with dementia and Alzheimers before. I was in need of someone with those experiences. Lily is bilingual in English and Spanish which I also needed for my mom who was early in her dementia and had regressed to mostly speaking Spanish. Lily provided companionship the first several months and was very flexible with her schedule and our needs. I frequently heard my mom laughing and telling her stories. She was wonderful at record keeping and communication with me. She and I spoke English as it’s what we were most comfortable with. She helped my mom do her physical therapy and do crafts and activities to stimulate her mind. She helped her get dressed daily. She was also great at redirecting my mom when all she wanted was me and I needed a break. She took her to movies and lunch and outside for fresh air. She prepared meals and took her to appointments. She chatted with genuine interest everyday. She also did house keeping and laundry in my moms apartment. As the months went by, Lily increased her hours to fit my needs. I can’t express how generous Lily was in accommodating our family. My mom’s situation got worse over time and we worked really well as a team to keep my mom comfortable and loved and safe. Lily always kept her cool even when my mom was being defiant and very stubborn. She even stayed over on family vacations which gave me great comfort and I was able to relax and enjoy my kids and give my husband and kids 100% of me without worry. Eventually full bathing, diapering, dressing nail cutting, hair brushing and teeth brushing were needed and Lily did those things without hesitation. Lily was my full partner in caring for my mom all the way through palliative care and hospice care to my moms eventual death. At this point we were caregiving 24 hours a day with my husband as well. I could not have given my mom the end of life experience I wanted for her in my home if it were not for Lily. I will forever be grateful for the loving care we as a family received from Lily. She didn’t just care for my mom she cared for all of us. My entire family came to love Lily and her warm and caring ways. You would be lucky to have such a great woman care for your loved one. I trust her implicitly, I trusted her with my mom.
