About Lijun

I graduated in 2010 with a PhD in Physics and MS in Statistics and have been teaching college physics and physical science since then. I also home schooled my own kids for two years during the pandemic. Across over 20 years and varying student backgrounds, I have consistently observed the disconnect between students' abstract and applicable understandings of math. To help students with math and math-based science, first, I will enrich mathematics courses by incorporating relevant physical contexts to demonstrate the practical relevance of mathematical application in areas like algebra and calculus. By focusing on building a strong conceptual foundation through this contextual understanding of mathematical concepts, I will encourage critical thinking and intuitive understanding among my students. Second, I will emphasize not only how mathematical concepts connect to real world application, but also how they connect to and build upon each other.
