About Liberty

When I lived in Hawaii 3 years ago I developed a friendship like no other. I was a nanny for a family and their great grandmother moved in. She truly became the best friend I could have ever asked for. We exchanged recipes, she taught me Japanese tea ceremony (it was her passion), we laughed, we cried, I looked at her the same way I look at myself. A woman just living her life. Nothing more complicated than that. Was she 92? Yes. Was I 25? Also yes. But her age never changed how I felt about her and our friendship. She was my girl. I made her feel like herself not just a grandmother and I think that's special. I miss her every day and I would love to be that friend to another lovely person.
