About Lexie

My name is Lexie, I am currently a nurse in long term care and have been for 3 years. I also have one year of experience in the hospital setting. Before becoming a nurse I got my STNA at the age of 15, I worked as an STNA for almost 9 years. I started in healthcare because my grandfather having lung cancer when I was only 12. My grandmother primarily took care of him along with receiving hospice services. This took a large toll on my grandmother so I was always willing to help her with anything possible. I never could have imagined the gratification and happiness it gave to to help care for someone. I was able to care for my grandfather just like he was able to care me the years I was able to spend with him. I believe he deserved the best care, just as any individual does regardless of the age. Though this was a very difficult experience at such a young age, I was able to find light of it. I knew taking care of people was my calling.
