About Lena

I have a Master's degree and CT teaching certification in Early Childhood (PreK-3rd) and Special Education (PreK-K). I have taught kindergarten for 9+ years. Prior to becoming a classroom teacher, I provided tutoring and intervention to students with special needs. I have experience working with students with ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. I am pursuing additional Master's credits to further my knowledge of autism and neurodiverse learners. Some things I enjoy: ALL things Disney; spending time with my amazing 5-year-old nephew, spinning, going for walks, and coloring with my gel pens! In addition to child care, I am highly qualified (and more than willing) to provide tutoring and/or basic reinforcement of foundational reading skills. Some critical skills necessary for emergent readers and writers include: rhyming, letter and sound ID, isolating and manipulating sounds in words, and sight word recognition.
