I formerly worked in a group home for adolescents with disabilities. This involved daily care including bathing assistance, getting ready for the day, putting them to bed, medication administration, etc. The adolescents in the home had a variety of impairments from down syndrome and cerebral palsy to autism and behavioral issues. The ages ranged from 10-17 and I cared for these children deeply however could not handle the overnight shifts. I love working with children and helping those that need the extra assistance. I know basic ASL and am working towards fluency. I am used to working with children with auditory difficulties and children who are nonverbal.
