About Leah

Hi DC! I am an after-school teacher and media studies student who has been lucky enough to move to the city recently. I'm passionate about creating a nurturing, stimulating environment for the children under my care. It is important to me that my presence is a place where they feel comfortable to be themselves, learn, and grow. I love hands-on activities! I think they're such an important part of sparking creativity and critical thinking, fostering a love for the arts, and showing children what they are capable of. Though I leave exact guidelines up to parents, I generally take a limited approach to screentime. However, I recognize the importance of being able to critically navigate the digital landscape; and in fact, some of my favorite projects have been with students on short films of their own. I'm big on explaining why and avoiding punitive approaches. Lastly, I am comfortable and experienced with both neurodivergent and queer children. Looking forward to connecting!
