Hello, all, my name is Leah! I have 10 years experience as a special education paraprofessional, one-on-one aide, and accessibility aide. I moved from TX to Reno last year to work as a Sewing Instructor at UNR. I have also worked for 3 years as a fine arts instructor for people with I/DD. I am comfortable and have experience with aiding people with many diagnoses and am proficient in several AAC communication devices such as LAMP, TouchChat/NovaChat, Tobii Dynavox (and similar EyeGaze devices), PECS cards and boards, and switch-based AAC. I have my masters in Theatre Tech so I am well-versed in multimedia arts, and I believe that inclusive education is the future of a more communal, supportive society and I incorporate it into all my work. In my free time I enjoy making cosplays, teaching myself to bake, playing with my cat, traveling to small towns and organizing my remarkably large earring and shoe collection. I also offer sewing instructional and tutoring services.
