About Layla

Hi there! I have been working with children for as long as I can remember. I come from a big family (5 siblings!) and have strong family values. I started babysitting as a teenager and have always loved stepping in when friends or family need help with their little ones. I've been teaching yoga for 15 years. I needed to supplement teaching with a job that could fit into my non-teaching hours so I decided childcare would be perfect. I love it. I have a bachelors in psychology from UCLA with a focus on child and adolescent development & behavior, and I am currently working towards a masters in clinical psychology. I have always had kids in my life in one way or another and I really enjoy being a positive and healthy influence in their lives. I've worked with some really great families who have become like a family to me. I hope that continues to be the case as I continue down this path.

Layla has been taking care of our two boys for 8 years after school, since they were 4 and 6. We could never say enough good things about her -- she's warm, responsible, funny, athletic, intelligent and just generally wonderful with the boys. She's not afraid to gently discipline them, teach them yoga and make sure that they eat healthy foods, but she also laughs and listens and hugs them (although they're getting older and it's tougher). She also drives them around town and keeps a very busy schedule in order. I am loathe to give her up, but our boys are going into 8th and 9th grade and becoming more independent.
