I am a literacy specialist and tutor students in reading, math, science, writing and test preparation for grades k-12. I am Orton-Gillingham trained. I have been independently tutoring for the past 9 years. I am currently a certified teacher for K-8 and have spent the last 10 years helping students reach their fullest potential. I specialize in improving the basics. Kids are a lot like homes, they are only as strong as their foundation. I focus on reading comprehension and writing assistance, which includes understanding math word problems and number sense.

Lavasia worked with my 9 year old son for 5 months. She was very knowledgeable in breaking down the math to help him understand. She also improved his reading and he actually enjoys reading now. I like that she used weekly goals to measure my son's progress and he loved when she would come. My son got back on track with his participation in school and began to enjoy learning.
