About Laurie

I'm a reliable and nurturing caregiver with a strong background in early childhood development, trauma-informed practice, tutoring, and behavior management. Over the last 9 years, I've worked with children of various ages and backgrounds, and hope to apply these skills in more direct, personalized care. In my most recent role, I managed operations and programming for a nonprofit that installs and maintains child-friendly playrooms in homeless shelters. I supervised volunteers providing nurturing, developmentally appropriate care for children (ages 0-12), and handled general upkeep, including deep cleaning and safety-proofing. Previously, I worked with after-school programs teaching middle- and high-school students computer literacy, programming, creative writing, reading comprehension, math, public speaking, and more. I focus on meeting kids where they're at, building trust, and supporting their growth through patience, consistency, and personalized, attentive care!
