It has been a true privilege to assist those who need support in their daily lives. I deeply respect each person's desire for independence and provide care with compassion, understanding, and attention to detail. As a strong communicator, I listen attentively, follow directions, and offer thoughtful guidance when needed. Many of my clients have enjoyed my company, whether through shared conversations, outings, or simply the little moments that bring a smile to their faces.
Joy is absolutely the most dedicated, caring, conscientious healthcare companion aid. She definitely lives up to her name in numerous ways. Although only in our employ in Los Angeles from June to December 2023, she left a lasting impression in our hearts, especially for my mom, Beverly Freeman. Joy took the initiative to tend to important and sometimes not-so-important tasks. She always took care of just about anything I asked of her going the extra mile, plus giving excellent suggestions. Her responsibilities included shopping, healthy meal preparation following stringent doctor-recommended dietary plans, and medication reminders. In addition, she provided Beverly transportation to her various group activities and classes, to doctor and physical therapy appointments where she paid special attention and took notes of the various recommendations and plans which were then shared with the other care companions and implemented. One of the most amazing aspects of her personality was intuitively knowing how best to communicate with my 90-year-old mom, able to hold a person's heart who is facing fear and loss so that they can process their feelings. (VERY HARD TO FIND). She was also an emotionally sophisticated listener. Although Joy was only part-time, she developed a strong bond by engaging on a personal yet professional level. Her creative ideas hold the heart of someone with dementia so that they feel they are still in control of their life. Joy and my mom sang and danced together, created art projects, and played games that strengthened my mom’s memory. They had fun and had a lot of good laughs and deep conversations. In addition, she made sure that my mom completed her daily physical therapy activities to the best of her ability. My mother’s independence and dignity were always of utmost importance to Joy, allowing Beverly the freedom to make her own choices within limits. Another wonderful trait Joy had was recognizing when something needed to be done and digging in to accomplish the task within a reasonable time. For example, she is a great organizer and helped my mom get certain closets, drawers and cupboards cleaned out and organized! She did this on her own accord. When I needed binders put together to share with other companions, she spent time typing up the notes, medical personnel names and addresses, translating doctor and therapist directions into easy-to-follow steps and organizing them with dividers into separate easy-to-follow binders. I can not tell you what a G-d send that is! I can almost guarantee you will not be disappointed and may find yourself feeling as fortunate as I do to have her in your life! Truly a gift and a blessing, the best quality support! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you. Signed: ____________________________________ Ellen – Beverly’s daughter.
