About Laura

My name is Laura. I am a middle school Math teacher who is passionate about helping students learn. I live in Shelton, CT and am certified in Mathematics for Grades 4-12 with a Masters in Teaching. I believe all students can reach their true potential when given the proper supports and encouragement. I'd describe my personality as patient, understanding, and supportive. I like tutoring because I believe all students learn at their own pace and in their own way and sometimes require help outside of school to solidify and deepen their Math understanding. Tutoring allows me the opportunity to help students through breaking down problems step-by-step, explaining connections between new concepts and their prior learning, and providing them with extra practice. My skills include presenting Math concepts in a way that makes sense to students, breaking problems down step-by-step, and providing students with detailed Math notes/study guides with examples on the topics they are learning.
