Experience: 25 yrs
I have worked with the elderly population for over 25 yrs. I started my career by taking care of my family; my brother first, then my mom. I am a dedicated, compassionate for the health care industry as demonstrated by achieving my CNA, CNA 2 acute care, gerontology, and activity assistant certifications. Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities allow me to be quick, calm, and have decisive responses in emergency situations. Outstanding patient care is assured by performing activities including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) within a home environment, various tasks included hygiene, dressing, bathing, toileting, and meal prep/feeding, medication, and transferring/mobility. Encourage maximum patient independence, always based on the ability of the client, and can perform range of motion exercises to maintain limberness, and pain-free living. I am a team player, Have worked with hospice teams, a variety of emotional, physical situations.
I employed Laura for many years as my parents downsized through two different residential communities, aging in place. She was there at the beginning and she was there on each of their very last days. During that time I found her to be one of the kindest, most big hearted, observant, empathetic, reliable, caring, proactive, loyal, reliable caregiver we had. She knew how to help my parents, both physically, emotionally, and intellectually, adapting her routines and things that she would do with them, according to what they loved and cared about and wanted to do. She became part of our family and helped with many difficult situations. I always watched out for my parents. Best interests. She was the only caregiver who could get my dad through the night dry because she was monitoring him, and if things got uncomfortable for him, she would completely strip the bed and get him all fresh and clean for the rest of the night no matter the time. She found ways to give my mom and dad a chance to continue their own relationship, in spite of their altered conditions, and I know they greatly appreciated the respect she showed their desires. Whenever it was time for somebody to volunteer working an extra shift, I regard her with great esteem. Bonnie
