About Laura

I love working with kids because it's been my passion since Elementary school. My mother worked in Pre-k all the way up to High school. I've watched her with many children and care for them and it made me want to do the same. I'm currently in school to be an Early Childhood Development teacher in the Education major. All my life I have worked with children and have seen almost EVERYTHING. I started working with kids when I 12 because I was a tutor for 3rd graders in an aftercare program. I later started working with kids with disabilities such as autism, down syndrome, and or the learning incapable. At 18 I got a job as a substitute teacher and worked with hundreds of kids of all ages. My skills include making a child feel better when overwhelmed or frustrated. I have a calming nature and know techniques to be able to make sure they feel safe. In Pre-K classes I would be in charge of putting the babies to sleep when they were getting fussy. I have a gentle touch.
