About Laura

I'd describe my personality as patient, creative, and diligent. I like tutoring because I like applying my teaching skills in a one-to-one setting. I'm looking for a job that allows me to tutor regularly with a student who has clear learning goals. The job has flexibility so I can try new approaches to learning that better match the student's strengths, needs, and interests. I started tutoring when I was a literacy tutor for kindergarten and first graders in 2007. In my spare time, I like to be outside in my garden, babysit my 3-year-old nephew, and listen to audiobooks. My skills include clear communication, an ability to break down academic concepts into small steps, and excellent literacy tutoring abilities.
