Working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) taught me that compassionate care, clear communication and vigilance are the foundation of quality patient support. My shifts were structured around routine, safety and responsiveness: reviewing assignment sheets at the start, prioritizing tasks by acuity, and preparing supplies to minimize interruptions. Daily responsibilities combined hands-on care and observational duties. I assisted patients with activities of daily living -- bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, ambulation and transfers -- always using proper body mechanics and lift protocols to protect both the patient and myself. I took and recorded vital signs, monitored intake and output, changed linens, and helped maintain a clean, comfortable environment. Documentation was immediate and precise: charting changes in condition, reporting pain levels, skin integrity concerns or medication side effects to the nurse, and noting any new behavior or mobility issues.
