I currently work part-time with a young girl who is autistic. I work with her on her behavioral issues and help with her socialization skills. I teach her personal hygiene and basic household chores. I have been working with her for 8 years now. For her 16th birthday, I took her on a surprise trip to a popular theme park. It was such an amazing experience! The expression on her face was priceless! I also worked two years for the ARC. I worked in one of their group homes with adults with varying disabilities ranging from Down syndrome, dementia, Alzheimer's, depression, Parkinson's, and autism. I worked with the clients on behavior modification, socialization skills, teaching basic cooking skills, personal hygiene and we would go on outings. I enjoy working with children with special needs because they have so much love to give. I am a very nurturing, patient, understanding, compassionate person that some how finds it very easy to relate to children. I also have over 10 years experience as a nanny. I love children and am passionate about what I do.
