About Lana

Lana can do it all. When Lana arrives each morning to start her 12-hour shift with my mother, my mom's eyes light up and she says, "Lana is here! It's going to be a perfect day!" Five years after Lana's first day with us, our entire family still asks ourselves how we were so lucky that Lana made herself available to work for my mother. Whenever I am on the phone with Lana, my husband, children and friends always want to say hello, see how she's doing and thank Lana for her exceptional, devoted, tireless work. And Lana is clearly my mom's best friend. Lana is punctual - early - and proactively thinks of everything my 92-year-old mother could need or should do over the next 12 hours and the rest of the week. She plans ahead, stocks the refrigerator, makes appointments for mom, leaves notes for other caregivers or calls them on the morning their shift starts to ensure a smooth transition each day. Lana makes three meals for my mom, walks and feeds her dog, reads mail and email to her (because of my mother's diminished eyesight), reads newspaper articles to her, takes mom out to lunch, dinner and to a variety of appointments (always on time), assists with showering, dressing, physical exercise, pill management, bedtime routine, and creates an overall safe and warm environment. She knows when mom has a cold or something minor that be treated with over the counter meds, but critically, she also knows when to call and take mom to the doctor. Lana also keeps the kitchen and all rooms she works in immaculate. No spoiled food can be found in the refrigerator, pantry shelves are spotless and organized - thanks to Lana. She also meets maintenance folks who come to the house and facilitates the smooth completion of a vast number of projects inside the home. As I said, she is an exceptional juggler. Lana has the utmost integrity, is mature, focuses on the tasks at hand, and is blessed with a positive, infectious spirit.
