About Laina

I began babysitting at age 12, but unofficially began a year earlier when my sister was born and I was 11! With two parents who worked late, I was jokingly called the third parent, and still am even though she is now a teenager! My mother and grandmother worked in childcare and elementary education, so I grew up immersed in the world of children and caretaking. I followed in their footsteps by working at an elementary school daycare program during the summers between college. From age 16 to age 22, I also worked at a lifeguard. Much of these years were spent at a local YMCA where I also worked as a swim instructor, teaching parent-infant classes all the way through competitive swim classes for preteens. I love children, love running errands and love meeting new people! Outside of caregiving, I am a professional event planner and work in freelance marketing/communications.
