About Kyna

My goal as an educator is to empower and support my students on their journey of becoming lifelong learners. I prioritize learning over performance; grades and other forms of assessment are only the means to an end. Instead of teaching students how to take standardized tests, I teach my students how to analyze evidence, think critically, and how to communicate those ideas. I've been teaching professionally in a variety of settings for 7 years now. In Los Angeles, I taught Computer Science to middle school students from underserved areas. As a homeschool teacher, I designed and administered personalized curricula for a family of two boys. Most recently, I worked as a high school teacher the private school Gateway Academy in Brentwood. Most of my students are high schoolers, and I had the pleasure of seeing them individually, allowing me to fully customized their class content and pacing to best suit their needs.
