About Kristin

Available first week of September, '26. I have taught college first-year writing for over 30 years, as well as the history of Western humanities. I focus on building confidence rather than simple memorization. I focus on the areas of content, organization, style, and mechanics, with the umbrella over all of skills in critical thinking and information literacy. I cultivate an engaging, patient environment where I adapt to how you learn. When concepts feel challenging, I break them into manageable steps and connect lessons to personal interests to maintain momentum. Humor plays a big part in engaging with young people, and I do make them laugh. I teach the fundamentals of English mechanics without using excessive jargon or terminology. Witnessing an "aha!" moment when a difficult concept finally clicks remains the most rewarding part of my work. I am comfortable with pets and available for both in-home and online sessions.
