Experience: 10 yrs
With a decade of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, I'm deeply committed to supporting the well-being and independence of adults and seniors. My background includes a college degree, and my passion stems from positive experiences in previous care roles, along with a desire to provide reliable support for families. I am patient, compassionate, and approachable. Building a connection with your loved one starts with understanding their preferences and personal history. I adapt to changing routines, de-escalate stressful situations, and handle confusion with care. I provide respite care, hospice services, and home health. I also assist with errands, light housekeeping, meal preparation, dementia care, medical management, and physical activity. I always follow the family's preferred communication method. Being comfortable with pets, I look forward to bringing peace of mind to your home.
Kris is a highly qualified, well-trained, positive, stable, experienced, reliable, honest, former long-time hospital nursing assistant who now works independently with her own back-up team. She was recommended to me by a former surgical oncology registered nurse colleague, so I searched for her profile on care.com. Kris was invaluable to my husband, to me, & our family during the last year-&-a-half of his life. My husband suffered from bladder cancer w/urostomy, developed sepsis, & had a stroke. Kris worked with us 5 days/week, various hours each day. She was never late, always dependable, & was cheerful, energetic, & happily searched for & recommended better, innovative ways of solving his problems when needed. Kris was a huge support to me as well, emotionally & physically. My husband tried to be fiercely independent, & was often very cagey about sneaking away to do things against his medical advice or physically capabilities. Kris was often the only person he’d listen to; he developed a very strong respectful & trusting relationship with her. She allowed him the dignity to direct his own care, as much & as often was safe & practical. She routinely did all of his personal cares; she chatted & did his hobbies with him; she allowed him solitude &/or laughter as he needed. She took him for rides in her vehicle & drove him to meet his weekly coffee buddies even though he was wheel-chair bound. She quickly became an integral part of his care team & our family.
