About Kiya

Emotional regulation is the foundation of focus. It's important to earn a students trust, and reward their effort. Creativity, fun, rapport, keep students engaged and working. I set achievable goals with my students, and help them follow through. I have been a 1:1 aide for 3 years. I worked in every SPED program offered by the high-school; Adult Transition, Life Skills, and Gen Ed. My students were aged 14 to 24, and ranged from those with high to low support needs. I have experience working with students with a wide range of behavior support needs and social, emotional challenges. My goal is to help connect a students wants with what a student needs to do, and help them become motivated, confident, and independent.
