About Kierstin

Hello! I'm Kierstin and I've been a teacher in New York for six years. I have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade in general education and special education classrooms. I believe that everyone can learn and it starts by meeting students where they're at. I have worked with students from a variety of backgrounds and with different levels of ability. I am experienced in differentiating instruction for students who are already achieving at high levels, and for those who are struggling with content. I like to start my work with students by evaluating their foundational knowledge in addition to their access to current content. Reading is at the heart of all learning, so I incorporate it into my instruction of all subjects. This is especially true for math! Before becoming a classroom teacher, I was a writing tutor at my college for three years and also taught writing workshops in my university's program for international students.
