Hi! I'm looking for a job where I can assist in a child's development through play, nature, and connection. As a teacher for the past 10 years (since the 13-14 school year as a kindergarten, Pre-K, and first grade teacher), I am passionate in growing the whole child but lately I'm not finding this in public education. They've taken out play in hopes of creating more rigor. I disagree with this as I believe play and connection making should be priorities. In my spare time, I like to hang out with my hubby. We enjoy visiting zoos and aquariums. I also love to read, particularly dystopian series; and build puzzles or Lego sets. My skills include maintaining a calm demeanor. Children deserve to be treated with respect and patience. Another skill of mine is that I'm a lifelong learner. Recently I have been reading about the Montessori approaches to education and parenting. My last skill would be that I see the value in using even the smallest, insignificant moment as a teaching moment.
