About Keisha

I started interacting with residents at the local senior center as a kid on Sundays. During my years teaching preschool and kindergarten, I coordinated several activity sessions at different Memory Care facilities. I experienced helping my mom through her last weeks in hospice. Now I am providing weekly respite care (3 days) for my aunt and uncle as my Grandma progresses in dementia. I have experience with bathing/changing her, preparing food for her, doing her laundry, changing bedding and finding ways to support whatever independence she is capable of. Dementia is a whole different kettle of fish, but I have found that a LOT of what I learned as a teacher of young children applies well to helping my Grandma feel safe and support her dignity while helping her do the things that are needed for her well-being.
