About Katie

Hello, This is Katie and I am a 32-year-old graduate student studying Early Childhood Special Ed at UC Denver. I strongly believe that our society devalues the process of aging and that senior care has become a crisis in this country. Children of the elderly are left with the heavy burden of either putting their parents in care or caring for them themselves. I feel that this generation of people, who fought in our wars, and have incredible stories and experiences should be welcomed as active and integral members of our communities. During my grandfather's dementia I lived with him for about 6 months and cared for him with the utmost respect. I would treat every senior I came across with the same dignity. Thank you for reading.
