About Kathryn
My name is Kathryn and I'm a junior at Appalachian State. I am in training for the Barton System (a research based Orton Gillingham influenced Program designed for teaching students with dyslexia), however I am working towards my certification (it takes nine months). I have actively worked as a Nanny and as part of this experience during Covid, I have had experience helping children with their academics. I also taught in a dance program for children! While I am in the process of training for Barton, I did grow up in a home with my mother being a special Ed teacher who has been teaching for the past 30 years. As a result, I have a great resource as I'm getting started. I look forward to the opportunity to help your student become a confident and fluent reader!
