I am an experienced individual when it comes to working with kids. I have been employed in multiple youth programs through the YMCA, including: Teaching toddler art classes, working as a counselor at a residential summer camp (for 7 years), and teaching ceramics in after school programs. Last fall, I was invited to participate in an Artist and Residency Program through the University of Michigan where I worked with 140 third and fourth graders to create and permanently install a ceramic tile piece within the elementary school. A majority of my past experience was with youth between the ages of 5 and 16, although for the past year I've been working with preschoolers at the St. Johns Community Center's educational preschool class and now with the Multnomah Early Childhood Program (MECP). Currently, I am employed as a Special Education Teaching Assistant through the David Douglas School District. Working with special needs children has become the focus of my career and I am excited to continue serving my community. Over the years, I have worked with a diversity of children which has allowed me to respect the different philosophies that families practice. I am a compassionate, healthy, and consistent individual that always follows through and I takes pride in what I do. I am a reliable, responsible, fun, and hardworking young woman and I hope to work with your family in the near future.
Katharine is everything you want in a nanny: she is trustworthy and hardworking, energetic and creative, experienced and knowledgeable, dependable and smart. She worked for our family during a very difficult period when our 4 year old was in the hospital for 3 weeks and we had a newborn baby, as well as a high-energy 18 month old. We knew we could rely on her to care for our three young children and meet their very different needs. Not only is she wonderful with children, she is a delight to know and spend time with as an adult. She has a great sense of humor and is fun to be around. She is also very mature and an excellent communicator, so she strikes a nice balance between being professional and personable. Any family would be lucky to have her!
