Kate visits my mom, who suffers from Alzheimer's, in a nursing facility 2 evenings a week. She assists mom with dinner and keeps her company until bedtime. I watched Kate the first few nights she visited with Mom and she seemed genuinely pleased to be with Mom. She engaged Mom, was affectionate and gentle with her and elicited many smiles. Since then, I have not been there with Kate and my Mom. I rely on the feedback I get from the staff and other family members who watch them together. I hear things like, "I love watching Kate with your Mom", "Kate is so sweet and gentle", "Your mom really seems to enjoy Kate's company", "your Mom is so engaged when Kate is with her", etc. The staff appreciate Kate's help getting mom ready for bed and her assistance in keeping mom calm in the process. We are very pleased and consider ourselves blessed to have found Kate on Care.com.
