I am a dedicated caregiver to the elderly. I cared for my mother-in-law when she lost her independence due to COPD. Although she lived in assisted living, they didn't assist much. I researched her disease, took her to doctors' appointments, asked the doctor questions, wrote detailed notes about each visit, and posted them in our family's Google doc. I monitored her health daily, managed her calendar, contacted nurses, made sure her portable oxygen tank was always charged, and worked with the oxygen provider to troubleshoot the at home tank. Although she was primarily dependent on a wheelchair, I took her out to eat, to stores, and the park. I appealed insurance claim denials, helped her stick to a budget, and helped her apply for Medicaid. I ordered supplies, completed amazon returns, and anticipated what she would need for the next day. I opened water bottles and would clean up her place before I left for the day. I also purchased & put away groceries.
