About Kasandra

I am an elementary school Library Media Paraprofessional in Massachusetts. Part of my role includes producing a daily videocast, with rotating small groups of 4th grade students in the on-air roles and production team. When we first began this project, Kasandra volunteered to be a parent helper. Her own son was just in kindergarten at the time, so it was an act of extreme generosity to offer her help. It required arriving at school 20 minutes early each day, five days a week, and staying to help until the videocast was published online. Kasandra was steadfast in coming for three years (all still without her own son in the videocast!), very skillful in finding enriching activities to engage her own son while she helped me, and an integral part of the technological aspects of the video production. She was an encouraging leader and guide for the 4th graders, and an invaluable help to me. Kasandra is a very creative person, and frequently had wonderful new ideas about ways the students could use the videocast format to express themselves and learn. She has a great sense of fun with children, but can also set limits and boundaries when necessary. I saw her constant desire and efforts to find new and fun ways for her own son to continue learning outside of school, incorporating those into daily activities like cooking, chores around the house, and taking care of pets, as well as other special projects and formal learning activities. She is very patient and even-tempered, and willing to go the extra mile needed to make any activity the best it can be. I recommend Kasandra without hesitation!
