About Karuna

I have always been passionate about working with children/youth, both of my parents are educators and together they run a small, alternative, private school. I attended this school from 2nd grade through graduation and was encouraged and supported in doing mixed age-group schooling which provided me with a unique opportunity to spend time with, care for, learn from, and teach kids younger than myself. I started babysitting when I was 12 and have done 5+ years of work as a nanny. I have also been a counselor for an outdoor education program for 7 years. As a counselor in this program I worked with children/youth aged 7-18. I was responsible both for the child participants and for training new counselors which gave me experience working with teenagers. I also have experience helping with homework, preparing for quizzes, etc. I love the outdoors, I love to teach and to learn, and I am passionate about cultivating genuine human connection in all of my interactions.
