About Karen

Karen became my husband’s caregiver through an agency that worked with the veterans administration. At the time, my husband was having some issues that we attributed to his severe back issues from his service in the Marine Corps. With Karen help we were able to see that this was a lot more. Because she came to us right before Covid lockdown we had to wait for a doctor appointment, but in the meantime Karen worked with him with some therapy here at home. After his diagnosis of Parkinson’s and Lewy bodies dementia Karen encouraged him to stay positive and work hard on his physical therapy which enabled him to get strong enough that frequent falls stopped! Karen is extremely professional and takes the time to get to know the patient and family in order to provide the very best care. Karen not only took care of his physical needs, but also emotional needs as he adjusted to his new reality by keeping him focused on staying on top of things and that he still had a lot to live for and work toward. Because she was so conscientious, I felt complete peace of mind to be able to leave him in her care and have sometime away from the house to run errands, etc. Even though Karen is not with us anymore, it was the things that she taught us and encouraged us to do in advocating for ourselves with doctors, etc., that we continue to have success in my husband’s treatment. Karen has a calling to do what she is doing. It’s not just a job to her.
