About Kara

I moved to Virginia from NYC in 2020 for grad school. Since then, I've earned 2 graduate degrees in Shakespeare and Performance, and worked at a non-profit theater managing student matinees. Now, I want to move to DC to be closer to my family. In NYC, I worked with children as young as 9-months old and children up to 12 yeard old. Some of my previous responsibilities included: - Taking the kids to/from their activities via the subway, walking, or mass transit (I have a car now, so driving them is now an option, too) - Coordinating playdates - Tidying up after playtime - Bedtime routines - Shower and/or Bathtime - Cooking simple meals and preparing snacks - Buying groceries - Running loads of laundry and the dishwasher - Communicating with pre-verbal children via American Sign Language - Practicing French with bilingual children I love pets and have two cats of my own. I'm happy to work with families that have cats and/or dogs. I'm open to other types of animals as well.

Kara worked for our family for about a year and a half and we had a great experience with her. The kids were 5 and 3 when she started. Her duties included taking our eldest to school, caring for our youngest during school hours, school pickup, feeding both kids dinner, and giving them a bath. Kara proactively befriended other nannies and stay at home parents, regularly organizing play dates and neighborhood adventures. Times spent at home included activities such as baking, board games, and theatrical productions. The kids absolutely adore Kara, she is kind, fun, and full of energy. With the kids older and in school full time now, our childcare needs have changed and we sadly couldn't provide Kara with the hours she needed. We will definitely be calling her for date night sitting though!
