Hey! I'm Kalysta. I recently moved to Durham for school, I am a Master's candidate at Duke and a JD candidate at the UNC School of Law. I have worked for the past three years as a caregiver for a girl with special needs. I am also a certified Guardian Ad Litem with 3 years of experience representing children in the foster care system. I have my Bachelor's degree in psychology, which required courses in speech & language development, child development, and child psychology. In high school, I nannied for a family with three children (ages between 18 months and 8 years). I'm more than happy to help with schoolwork. I am a certified literacy tutor, I excel in English/Language Arts (I am actually a published writer!), and I adore history and the sciences. I am also in the process of completing the Red Cross' Adult, Child, and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Kalysta worked for us as a caregiver for our daughter. While our daughter is on the higher functioning end of special needs, it is no light responsibility watching over her. We have seen in Kalysta an unflinching ability to take on this responsibility. Our needs were in large part logistical: transporting our daughter to and from where she needed to be, making sure she was picked up on time and at her next activity on time, making sure she was fed and bathed and in bed in a timely fashion. We were looking for someone who could meet the day to day needs of providing care but also someone who would be a buddy. We needed these things covered but we wanted our daughter to be with a friend. Kalysta stepped in and stepped up to do exactly both. We came to trust Kalysta and her ability to handle whatever situation arose. We came to rely on her dependability but were most struck by her compassion and sensitivity. It is our opinion you could not find a better child care provider!
