I am a 45 yr old Mother of 5 and a registered nurse by trade. I left the field 4 years ago to homeschool my 2 youngest children and work evenings as a personal caregiver. I love working with the elderly and in particular end-of-life care. I am compassionate and attentive and will ensure your loved one gets the care they deserve, while striving to maintain their independence at home.
Justine D cared for my mom for the last year and a half of my mother’s life, and I will be forever grateful for the care and attention she gave to my mother. In the last eight years I have employed 42 caregivers to provide full time care for my mom, Justine was clearly the most skilled and dedicated Nurse out of the entire group. It was difficult to manage my mother’s care and I came to depend on Justine for her reliability, her ability to interact with the doctors, her ability and judgement in diagnosis and care of all the myriad of medical issues. When I needed help trying to figure out what to do Justine was not only invaluable to me, but she was also invaluable to all the caregivers who would often turn to Justine for help and guidance. She brought cohesion to the caregivers and a sense of comfort that they had someone who would be available to help them day or night. My mom never wanted to go to the hospital again and wanted to be in her home, and sometimes it was incredibly hard to follow her wishes, and with all of Mom’s pain often she was challenging to care for. The reason I had 42 caregivers over the years is that many of them just quit out of frustration. Not Justine, she rose to the challenge. When the call came at 4 am in the morning that my mom was dying, it was Justine on the other end of the line. When I arrived home, it was Justine who had come out on her off shift to help and take care of things and to clean up the mess. It was Justine who had calmed Mom down and stayed by her and who helped me immeasurably as I was with her in her last hours. With her experience and credentials, Justine would be a prized highly compensated employee for any medical organization, yet she chose to do this work to provide direct care and to build relationships with people in need of care. She does this kind of work because she believes in the quality of care for your loved one and approaches this with the highest of moral and professional care. She has my highest recommendation.
