Hi there! I'm currently a PhD student at Duke spending my summer with family on the island before heading back down to North Carolina for school. While supporting myself through school, I've babysat for several families in North Carolina (ages 6 months-5 years), worked multiple summers as a camp counselor (ages 5-12), worked at a preschool (ages 3-4), and am the designated babysitter for the (many!) kiddos in my extended family. I have my own transportation and have previously held CPR/AED certifications and am happy to re-certify if that would make you more comfortable! My approach to caring for kids is to encourage curiosity and positive self-talk, to be a patient listener while also guiding toward positive choices, and to embrace each child's unique gifts! Julia is our FAVORITE babysitter. She's taken great care of our two kids, ages 1 and 3 for over a year and we adore her. She's reliable, confident and always goes above and beyond tidying up after the kids go to bed. Our house usually looks better than when we left it, a huge gift to parents. We trust Julia and are completely at ease when our kids are in her care.
