About Juliane

After graduating with my BA in Physics and German Studies from Cornell, I completed a Masters Degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the Univ. of Michigan. I have 850+ hours of STEM tutoring experience, and students have consistently given me 4. 5 - 5/5 star ratings. I enjoy tutoring students because I was once on the other side of the table! While at Cornell, a physics graduate student provided me with supportive, concept-based, and empathetic tutoring that greatly increased my self-confidence and mastery of the course material. In my tutoring sessions, my #1 goal is to empathize with the student and make them feel valued despite their academic struggles. My tutoring sessions focus on helping the student understand the "why" -- "why is equation X appropriate and not equation Y?". From my own experience, this approach allows students to fully understand the course material and apply it in a variety of settings, from academia to careers and internships.
