About Joy

Hi! I'm a calm, present caregiver and parent of a 3. 5-year-old who recently started pre-k. I've worked with children since the early 2000s, starting with tutoring and literacy clubs, and since 2011, teaching ESL to kids of all ages, primarily in their homes. I follow a gentle parenting approach based on connection, respect, and truly listening to children's needs. My style is Montessori-inspired: hands-on, curiosity-led, and screen-free during care time. I've worked with neurodivergent children and am comfortable adapting to each child's unique rhythms and needs. While my kiddo was younger, I was a full-time stay-at-home parent, continuing some side gigs caretaking and teaching on nights and weekends. This gave me the time and space to grow into the kind of caretaker I'd always wanted to be. It helped me build a lot of patience, intuition, and joy in being with kids, and I'd love to bring that to your family. I can provide care in your home or mine. References available upon request.
