About Joy

Being from a large family I've had the pleasure of watching over my younger siblings and relatives. As they grew up, I realized I developed a strong love for children. Although I am not a licensed baby sitter, I have an accumulative 4-5 years of baby sitting experience. I've done some volunteer work with kids at church ages ranging from 3-12. I helped with homework, gave out snacks, and did other recreational activities (basketball, watch movies, play games/puzzles). While in high school I completed two Child Growth and Development courses with children age 4-5. When the children were present we were responsible for snack, play time, and observing the interactions between kids. I've made lesson plans (teaching them about shapes, letters, numbers, colors etc.), I read to them and encouraged them to read to me. Besides the educational enjoyment, I enjoyed being able to have fun with the children. I enjoyed teaching them new things and also learning from them.
