I'm personable, Midwest kind, and encouraging. This helps me connect with kids, creating an actively caring space where they can express frustration honestly yet gain confidence in themselves to keep trying. My #1 priority in tutoring is gaining your child's confidence at their pace on a subject. This takes time, but I've always found that the kid's growth becomes exponential once they believe in themselves. They more often than not get to a place of understanding with consistent extra practice, an allowance of frustration, a positive support system, and a growing confidence in self. My top three skills as a tutor are: 1) Establishing a laid back, safe, & honest environment where kids can express frustration, be themselves, and connect while being able to lock in; 2) Being unafraid to go backwards to go forward; and 3) Expressing patience with your child's pace of understanding
