I grew up tagging along to work with my mother, who is a physical therapist for children with special needs. I volunteered at her preschool throughout high school, working with children with Cerebral Palsy, Down's syndrome, autism, etc. During activities such as swimming and horseback riding. For two summers during college, I was employed by this same facility, once as a classroom aide, and once as a one-to-one aide for a child with a chromosomal abnormality, a severe hearing impairment, and sensory needs. I've also worked as a part-time nanny for three separate families with children with Cerebral Palsy. Most recently, I spent three years as a full time nanny for two different families in Denver, CO. I love the relationships I've formed through these opportunities. The growth that I've seen and felt in the people that I work with and in myself is simply incredible.
